Alan,
The head end is going to be on the main floor but without any field experience with the Prodigy wireless expanders, I'm more apt to go Crestron because I can hardwire an EX gateway into each of the zones if needed. Awhile back I had some range issues with the mlx-2's and adding gateways locally solved the problems.
Have you used the Prodigy wireless expanders yet? The spec says up to 150 feet but......you know how that can go....
