The Great Philips Pronto Professional XCF Design Contest
Design a Pronto Professional XCF... win a Philips Flat TV!

Thanks for your interest in The Great Philips Pronto Professional XCF Design Contest - however both entry and voting stages are now complete! Check out the results and see who won on this page!

For now, these pages will remain available so that you can see the guidelines as presented to the voting members, and access all original contest entry materials.

Original voting stage guidelines:

What will the winners receive?Prizes sponsored by Philips The Grand Prize Winner will receive a 50" Philips 50PF9731D plasma television valued at $3,899 USD (for NTSC regions; otherwise a 50PF9631D valued at EUR 3,999 for PAL regions) along with a Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 color touchscreen control panel valued at $1,299 USD and a Philips Pronto Professional RFX9600 serial extender valued at $599 USD for a combined prize value of $5,797 USD.

Second Place will receive a Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 color touchscreen control panel valued at $1,299 USD plus a Philips Pronto Professional RFX9600 serial extender valued at $599 USD for a combined prize value of $1,898 USD.

Third Place will receive a Philips Pronto Professional TSU9600 color touchscreen control panel valued at $1,299 USD plus a Philips Pronto Professional RFX9400 wireless extender valued at $299 USD for a combined prize value of $1,598 USD.

What should I look for when voting? It's up to you to find your favorite designs! However, there are three aspects that you should try to evaluate for all entries:

Originality: How unique is the overall design? Are graphics innovative and original? Do all design aspects mesh well into something you'd want to use on a daily basis?

Layout: Are control buttons placed in logical positions? How easy and intuitive is the design's navigation? Does the XCF have good general ergonomics?

Quality: On a whole, does the design look good? Are bitmaps high quality? Are there any inconsistancies with button placement? Does the entry make the most of the TSU9600's capabilities?

For the original contest rules and guidelines click here.

All entries are presented in the XCF file format and can be viewed with the Philips ProntoEdit Professional software package. Use the program's built-in Pronto Professional Simulator to see exactly how an entry will look and operate on the actual remote control!

How will the voting process work?First, you will be shown several pages of entries. For each entry you'll find four screenshots along with a brief description. Below each entry is a link leading to a separate page with four full-resolution screenshots, a complete description, plus a link to download a file containing the original XCF version of that entry. We strongly recommend that you download and check out any designs that you like with the software, as many include sophisticated animations that can only been seen in the Pronto Professional's simulator.

Remember the numbers of the entries that you want to vote for!

Next, you'll be taken to the official ballot page, which has a quick listing of all entries along with a form where you can pick your two favorite designs. It doesn't matter what order you select them in - all votes hold the same weight. In order to make the process as easy as possible, you can vote in stages - for example make one selection today and the second tomorrow.

Select your favorite designs and then press the "Submit" button to cast your ballot. That's all! Remember that you can only place a total of two votes, and once you've voted you cannot change your selections.
