New review of the Complete Control MX-900 Genesis and MSC-400 Master System Controller!
How much remote control do you need? Universal Remote Control knows that the answer to that question isn’t always “more” – it can just as easily be “less”. If you’ve used or looked at the company’s products recently, you’re undoubtedly familiar with the Complete Control MX-850 and MX-950 hard buttoned models. The MX-850 is based on the classic MX-500 and, while a very capable remote, does not incorporate the latest technology. The next generation solution came in the form of the MX-950, which we reviewed a short time ago. The MX-950 is a rather large upgrade over the MX-850 and also costs nearly twice as much.
Fortuitously, Universal Remote noticed this pricing gaffe and opted to fill it with an intermediary model, the MX-900 Genesis. Priced only slightly higher than the MX-850, does the MX-900 maintain enough of the MX-950’s features to be a solid upgrade over the MX-850 in more than just name?

The MSC-400 moves beyond ordinary RF extenders by providing a centralized hub for system management that incorporates the company’s most sophisticated RF technology yet, device status monitoring, control over RS-232 and relay components, IR routing, plus on-board macro storage.

Although the MSC-400 in the review is being used with an MX-900, all information relating to it will also be valid for other compatible remote control models, including the MX-3000, TX-1000, MX-950 and the forthcoming MX-810.
