Strengths:Fast easy set-up. Was up and running with my basic system requirements in 15 minutes. After some use, I customized the remote in another 10 minutes. No website problems, very intuitive.
Weaknesses:None noted so far.
Review:I was sceptical when I purchased this remote. I figured it would be another case of over promising and under delivering. I can't put into words how impressed I am. This is truly an amazing product and worth 3 times what I paid for it.

Strengths:Looks and sounds like a dream come true..
Weaknesses:Backlight has broken on two that I have owned. The self learning does not remember what it learned.
Harmony Support stated they would provide me a RMA and never did.
Review:I was recommended to this remote, but the first one I had, the back light went out. I retruned it got another one, and a week later it stopped lighting up.
The signal seems to be weaker than the OEM remotes. And the "Help" button learns how to fix things but then forgets what it did when you use a macro again.
I am very unsatisfied with this remote, and have gone back to my many individual remotes.

Strengths:Simplicity of use. Intuitive nature of software.
Weaknesses:Web site functonality can be frustrating at times. Especially if the site is crowded.
Review:Unless you need the touch screen color interface to show you have the "coolest" gaget, the is the most fantastic device you can own. Once you understand the philosophy behind the software which is very practical and effective, this device is easy to set up and modify at any time. My purpose in purchaseing a universal remote was to make life easier for my family. They can now use this device without having to learn any special settings for the different set-ups of my system. Even if something does not happen perfectly when you hit one of the activity macros, the help button with Smart State Technology makes solving the situation effortless. When you compare value of this unit (I found it on the Web for $118.) to the much more expensive touchsreen units, there doesn't seem to be a contest. If this unit had RF capability it would be perfect. In addition, the construction of the device is very sturdy and the form is comfortable to handle. I dropped it once already with no ill effects. I could say more but you should get the picture that I am extremely pleased with my choice. One last comment, if you need help from a person, the tech people at the toll free number and friendly and genuinely out to make your set up easy and successful. You can call as much as you like and although I had some initial web site long waits the phone got me through with no wait at all every time.

Strengths:Easy to configure
Weaknesses:sub-par build quality, Need I say more?
Review:Over a period of 30 days, I've had two of these remotes. The first one emitted a loud squeal when the backlight was on. The second one's backlight lastest about a day and then died on me. The interactive listing download was all screwed up (multiple entries of the same shows...). The Web site for updates has been down for a while as well...
In the end, I had to "fight" with them to take the remote back because they were only willing to replace for another one. But at $10 a pop for delivery (my own money), this was getting ridiculous.

I have never seen an electronics product with such poor build quality. I will never buy a product from this company again and I can only hope that Logitech revamps their operation and improve their build quality. Definitely not recommended.

Strengths:Very easy to set up and use.
Weaknesses:Some times the web site is busy and downloading the TV listings is difficult and the site does not seem to work with my firewall.
Review:Because of the ease of use the whole family can use this remote (including the wife). We have eliminated the need for all other remotes and the TV listings are a great add on. Set up was very easy to do through the web site. So far we are very happy with this remote.

Review 35 made on Wednesday June 9, 2004 at 2:09 PM.
Strengths:User interface, Ease of setting up, tv guide, Activities macros, and a remote simulator for testing on your computer.
Weaknesses:-Feels a little light as if it can break easily when dropped.
-Would have been good to have added a few custom macro buttons but for most people this is a non-issue.
-No option to select which order the labels were displayed on the lcd.
Review:I've had this remote for a little over a week and it was really easy to setup on their website. Up and running in 30 minutes.
-Tweaking the individual buttons took a little longer but in general it was fairly easy.
-Activities buttons are GREAT!
-Advanced features are useful for the Activities buttons if you have a complicated setup.
-Love the TV guide feature.
-The backlight is really good.

Overall I would highly recommend this remote. The few issues I have are fairly minor and for a price of $120 the value is competitively priced.

Strengths:Wife friendly, does the basics ok. Easy enought to config online. TV program guide is a "hoot"
Weaknesses:RF anyone???? Button orders??? It's definitely for the wife'n kids.. no macros, LCD is a joke.. 2 rows?? next-next-next-next.. "ah.. there it is". I had to rename all the surround modes so they could be read on screen. [all too long]. Its on her side of the bed, MX-800 stays on mine.
Review:Right idea... 2 generations from now it should be near perfect.. [we hope].. almost worth the $.. but if you have a mx-6,7,800.... dont bother... Is it really $40 to use the program guide after 2months? Im not there yet...
