Strengths:Touchscreen feature. Alternating visibility of buttons which are pertinent to the currently selected device. Bright lighted button designations(really great in the dark and very well visible even in a well lighted room). Animations to show what device you are currently controlling. This is a really great remote!
Weaknesses:Very large and easy to slip out of your hand if you don't have a solid grasp. Like when trying to use only one hand and reach a button near the top after just pressing one near the bottom. It would help if they had used more of a "sure grip" rubber type of material on the sides and on back of the entire enclosure rather than metal. Also, the bottom of the remote is not flat. This makes it difficult to press buttons with one hand when the remote is laying on its back on a table. It would be nice if the back of the remote was flat so a button could be easily pressed without picking up the remote. Also, when I press "guide" on the "sat/cable" device setting I cannot get the original buttons for "sat/cable" (i.e. + - Channel) to display again unless I press the the "sat/cable" device or "screen" buttons. Both of these buttons are near the top of the remote and the "guide" button is near the bottom. Since the remote is so large and somewhat slippery, because of the metal casing, it usually requires a second hand assist to press these buttons without losing ones grip on the remote. It would be nice if the original cable button layout would appear again after pressing "guide" the second time. Or, at least, it would be nice if the + - channel buttons would remain visible on both of the "sat/cable" button layouts. I see no reason to hide the channel buttons after pressing "guide". If these three "weaknesses" were addressed I think this would be the ultimate remote. Even with these weaknesses I think it is probably about the best remote available.

Strengths:Bright Kemeleon blue buttons that are displayed instantly when you pick it up (when you put it down it goes off after about 10 seconds)

The ability to upgrade it via phone if your codes are not listed.

The ability to use the 'learn' option to make it work with ANY infrared device.

The ability to perform macros (i.e. perform many actions at once such as turning on or off your tv, cable box, and sound system at once...VERY handy!)

The sheer COOL factor this remote has, it will impress your friends and family with it's functionality and animation.
Weaknesses:There are really none, some people have talked about a buzz the controller makes...it is HARDLY noticeable unless you have it up to your ear! And certainly undetectible when you are watching tv
Review:I have had this remote for just a few days because I believe it is fresh on the market....it was only $59.99 at radioshack! When you compare the functionality this remote has with others you will see this is truley a great price for all the features. Hands down IMHO this is the best universal remote on the market.

Strengths:Looks good in low light, learning function works perfectly, very easy to use, "wow" factor
Weaknesses:Looks a bit cheesy in bright light
Review:I received this as an early Christmas gift and have only owned it for about four days now. In those four days, though, I've already grown to love it. In low light it looks spectacular, although it looks a bit cheesy/cheap in brighter environments. It's extremely easy to use and, best of all, the learning feature works perfectly. So far I've used it to control a Technics receiver, Scientific Atlanta digital cable receiver, Panasonic 5-disc DVD changer, Sony Wega TV, and Sony CD player. No problems yet.

Strengths:Each device chosen gives you just those operating options.
Weaknesses:A little to big.
Review:Received as an early Christmas gift I immediately opened it and the programming was simple. The device looks good and handles good. Each device chosen gives you just those operating options. Also switching from one device to another is very easy. Eash device also has two screens of options. Instead of 6 remotes I now have 1.

Strengths:Upgradeable by telephone call to an 800 number!
Weaknesses:Once you get used to it, the changing screens and flashing lights actually help.
Review:I have three devices not listed in the instruction book, including a Bose Wave Radio, Motorola DSR475 Digital Cable Receiver and an Echostar Dishplayer 7200 that I could never find a pre-programmed remote to operate. One phone call to customer service programmed my remote over the phone with the new codes and we're off an running!

Review 4 made on Friday December 20, 2002 at 9:46 PM.
Strengths:Fantastic looks and design. Slim profile. Easy to use easy to program, with macro funtionality. Updateable over standard phone line. Very affordable.
Weaknesses:Would like to use with more than 6 devices. Not PC programable. Would like ability to select which keys illuminate on each screen.
Review:I really love this remote! Not too expensive and chock full of function and style. Very easy to program with the exception of 1 non supported (so far)older Sony VCR. The smooth surface makes cleaning a breeze (every splash soda on a remote with 50 buttons?) The illumination and limited animation is very cool, and will impress visitors. It has the look, feel, and function of a remote costing much, much more. I would like to see it able to control more than 6 devices, and have more control over which buttons are lit on various screens. However, the good heavily out-weighs the bad. A very satisfactory purchase!

Review 3 made on Tuesday December 17, 2002 at 3:17 PM.
Strengths:Interesting concept, different look
Weaknesses:The remote makes a distinct and annoying buzzing sound whenever the backlighting is on i.e. whenever you use it.
I couldn't get past that problem and took it back.
Review:This certainly is an interesting remote. I was pleased with the look (though my wife hated it) and I had to admit it looked kind of cheap until the room was really dark. It was easy to at least start the setup process, but it rapidly became clear that the buzzing sound from the lighting inside it was going to be a problem.
Maybe I had a bad one, but since it has batteries in it at the store you can't evaluate it there for sound...
