Strengths:Value for money
Ease of use
Combo touch and hard buttons
This thing just looks good
Weaknesses:Limited hard buttons
Review:This is my first universal remote and after using it for over six weeks I am very happy.

I listed the above weekness because there are only four buttons for transport and volume. I would have loved four transport plus two more for volume, but hey!

While it's a valid argument that customizable touchscreen buttons would be better, I don't think it's a product weekness. When choosing a remote you can always spend a bit more and get the uCommand 616 for that feature.

The design is great. You can hold it and access the hard buttons, which I use often, with just one hand. Construction feels solid and the touchscreen is responsive. The blue back light is pretty sexy too.

Programing is so easy. Follow the instructions and program the layout first then program your buttons, it will save you a lot of time.

Macros work great and are easy to program. I didn't need all eight device screens so I use the AUX screen for a range of macros.

Just for the pure lazy boy factor, I have even programmed my home's air conditioning to run off this remote!

Crisp Solutions pre and post sales service was fantastic ( thanks Bobby Chang ) and I feel better knowing a reputable company backs this product. And no I don't work for them :) !!

In summary I chose the uCommand 525 over the 515 because I wanted hard buttons. I also chose it over the 616 as I didn't want to page through LCD screens for functions and I didn't want to use my PC to customise it.

I am very satisfied and would recommend this remote for a first timer with simple needs or a small-ish budget.

Strengths:Easy to program. Ergonomic shape.
Weaknesses:Absence of assignable or nameable icons on the l.c.d.
Review:I think that Crisp Solutions is on the right track with this baby.Once I caught on to it's layout it was a snap to program !I would like to have seen lcd icons that were "assignable" or "nameable"Other than that minor infraction,I had no problem programming my Marantz SR-7200 Receiver,My new Sony SACD player,Sony DVD player, and Hughs Sattelite receiver.

Strengths:Inexpensive touch-screen remote.
Cool looks, nice blue backlight.
Weaknesses:Not very customizable graphics-wise. Fragile.
Review:It seems to be a great deal for a touch- screen remote. Solid, heavy construction. It wasn't right for me tho because the lcd screen was pretty limited to the graphics options. Each button only has a few options for graphics. I assumed each button would be able to accept any graphic on the menu, but as it turned out, Crisp decided what you would like where and limited the options. The graphic you want for a button is probably somewhere on the remote, but it may not be in the location you want the button to reside. Also, this remote could use a joystick controller as a hard button. But, if these couple of things don't bother you, it's probably a great remote for the scratch. I probably could have worked with its limitations, but I returned it due to a rarely-occurring faulty backlight.

www.surfremotecontrol.com was EXCELLENT with their support and help returning the remote. Pleasure to work with and they really seemed to care. I highly suggest using them to make your purchase.
