Strengths:almost unlimited potential
TOTAL customization available
once conquered, easy to use
excellent in the dark
Weaknesses:can be overwhelming at first
big screen=big handful
not worth the price if you don't have a computer
Review:A great remote that won't soon be outdated. Good range and speed, and easy to read screen. It's going to overwhelm some people at first, so take it slow. Just get comfortable with the features and programming. Then when you upload and edit on computer you can truly make it your ideal remote by designing any or every aspect of it. WARNING: Do not download from website It destroys yourTSU-2000. Use the software that comes with the package and edit carefully until you get the hang of it. Don't be scared off by all these warnings, this remote will make your home entertainment customized to your every whim. Use this site for valuable info.

Strengths:Programability, capacity, user interface creativity, forum and availability of examples
Weaknesses:backlighting could be better. Code database is poor in the TS1000, however, the remotecentral fils area was able to overcome this shortfall. Discrete codes from the manufacturer would be nice.
Review:Having been a developer 20 years ago, I felt quite at home with prontoedit. It is quite easy to use. You need to sit back, take a breath, and just layout on a white board what you want to do. After looking at many samples I layed out my "monster". My goal was to create a single remote to run 15 different devices in 5 different rooms and keep it under 100% memory utilization. The result ... DONE with 27% to spare. I purchased a second TS1000 and look forward to a color version later in the year.

Strengths:Limitless programming
Graphics showboat
Weaknesses:Cruelly Inadequate Manuals
Software is USELESS without this site
Weak LCD and backlight
Tiny-fingers-only touchscreen
Intuitive as a cantelope
Review:This is the remote control equivalent of a stock car; for hobbyists who want to tinker with it up on blocks but rarely drive it.

The Pronto is for people who seek the sheer joy of programming graphics and technical nuance -- check out this site's CCF files and you'll see they're ingenious folk.

But otherwise, with its horrendously inadequate manuals and barely visible LCD, you could get up and rearrange your entire home theater in the time it takes to program, see, find and tap just one correct button.

Even then, if your fingers exceed infantile size you'll inadvertently mute the amp instead of change the channel.

After three weeks of unrequited toil, I'm shipping this showboat back. Shame on Phillips for this overpriced monstrosity.

Review:Well, I've been pining for a Pronto ever since I heard about it on Home Theater Forum a couple of years ago. The remote is all it says it is, a complete replacement for remote control.

That said, I do love the unit. However, Philips really needs some technical writers who actually DOCUMENT procedures for getting the remote to work properly...especially PRONTO EDIT!

I was able to get this working after feeling a little hesitant on getting started. Learning curve is moderate, but once you check out all the great resources at remotecentral.com, and play around with the remote, it'll come naturally.

One gripe...I can't stop tweaking the interface...but that's just an addiction, and not a real problem with the remote.

Strengths:CONTROLS EVERYTHING
Just Plain cool
Easy to program even without the software
Weaknesses:the software is a little buggy
it's expensive
Review:I have had the pronto for less than a week and it is programed to control all apects of my Home theater. All the original remotes arre stored away.

I did this WITHOUT the software. i am posting this review so that people do realize you can use this awesome remote without using Prontoedit. you will not have all the cool downloaded graphics but you CAN do a lot of customizing just on the device.

The built in database of devise codes is verry good. It had my Loewe TV which was a pleasant surprise.

My system consists of:
General instruments digital cable box
yamaha 596 tuner
JVD vcr (low end model)
Denon 1500 DVD
loewe Arcada tv
Teac CD (low end)

Get one if you can afford it. you will not regret it. Also, if you want to use the software and are a mac user it will work. you will need an windows emulator and some cable adapters. Remotecentral has instructions.

Strengths:Programmability
Flexibility
Novelty Factor
Weaknesses:Philips Documentation
Flexibility
Review:I've had my TSU2000 for about 3 weeks. I enjoyed programming it. It is easily the most flexible remote I have ever owned. I have successfully replaced ALL of the functions on my 5 remotes. I have built a CD jukebox list with macros. I have complete control of my system.

The Philips Documentation leaves something to be desired. There is plenty of help to be obtained from this web site to make that a minor inconvenience. I list flexibility as both a strength and weakness. The flexibility allows you to do anything you want with panel formatting. It also means that there is a learning curve for what will be an effective and useful format. I feel it's a MUCH greater strength than weakness.

The remote IS expensive. I feel that if potential purchasers do proper research, they will evaluate how "cost effective" it will be. I am very satisfied with my purchase, even at $360.00 shipped with the charger. I am looking forward to expanding into more areas like X10 with it.
