Strengths:Inexpensive so I don't care if it gets trashed, but has so far survived two big dogs and a three-year-old. Easy to use once you get used to the quirks. Range seems pretty good, but not great.
Weaknesses:Kludgy on some functions. For example, to go to the last TV station you need to hit the 'CD' button. Some really screwy stuff like that, but not surprising considering the level of remote this is.
Review:I don't know that I have more to say than what I gave in the strengths and weakness boxes. This has been a great remote for the cost, but if it got trashed tonight I would go with Xantech receivers/emitters/block and just use a Crisp UCommand626. Total cost would be something like $200.00 and would work great after pulling cable.

Strengths:Works very well in other rooms and even outside.
Weaknesses:Will not work on my Hitachi DVD player
Review:I love the product, its apsolutely awsome for sitting outside listening to music with full functions. I would like to have 2 more hand units for each floor for watching satilelite.

Strengths:ease of program
Weaknesses:RF unit did not work even over short distances
Review:I bought SC-595 (with rf remote base ) primarily for the remote rf base unit so I could operate my components in a different room. while the unit seemed to function well when I was within close distances, it didnt from the other room, a distance of about 15 ft, and only one interior wall. I returned the unit and bought the pricier Home Producer 8 which does exactly the job I need. Good idea, bad execution.

Strengths:relatively simple to program
Weaknesses:could not operate my Zenith vrc4025hf VCR. Everything worked EXCEPT programming mode, which I could not get into not matter which codes I tried.
Review:I found this unit attractive, with a good feel to the buttons. However, my main complaint is that I could not bring up the programming screen for my Zenith VCR (vrc4025hf). This makes the unit totally useless to me. I will be returning it and getting something else that will work.
