Also owned:MX-800
Strengths:I find the TX-1000 very easy to program on the computer and manually. The unit is very well built and can take a bit of tumbling around. Updates are simple and their database is huge. It also appears to have a lot of memory thus far.
Weaknesses:Hard to handle with one hand (a bit heavy). I have the RF adapter and often times my Outlaw receiver simply either locks up on me or every button you push in receiver mode causes the volume to increase – not sure if it is the receiver or the TX-1000.
Review:Overall a great URC but am still looking for the ultimate one.

Also owned:Onkyo's TXSR803.
Strengths:Near unlimited flexibilty.
Large display.
Easy to use if you know how to read and take your time.
True Universal capabilty for Audio, Video.
Once programmed, solid performance.
Perfect size.
Weaknesses:Not the greatrest most intuitive layout.
Manufactures not concerned about support.
Review:My only gripe about the remote is the Listen and Watch buttons. I do not feel is the friendliest of layouts for those two, basically if you don't have enought gear to be controlled, hard to see the device for what it is. A blessing in disguise.

Strengths:Excellent quality, large easy to read display, endless macros
Weaknesses:none......yet
Review:The TX1000 is a high quality easy to program remote.
The MX editor software is a breeze to use allowing endless macros, and
control of any unit. We have used it with great success on some of our
budget minded customers who did not want to spring for the MX3000.
Programming is much like the Mx3000-950 so it's easy to customize (unless you hate the HTM MX editor) All in all another hit for Universal.
