Contest Entry #41: Simple Chrome From: Tony Johansmeyer For: URC MX-3000 | What makes my remote configuration unique is that it is simple, easy to use but also adapts to many tastes, from contemporary to refined. Most importantly, my remote is functional for not only the most basic perspective (ease of use) to the more complex use. This makes my remote a great find for any member of the family. | File: tony-johansmeyer_contest.zip Size: 394kb Date: 06/17/05 |

Gareth Stitt's Sailor Moon RCC From: Gareth R. Stitt For: URC MX-3000 | This is the system file for an MX-3000 configuration I did for a Japanese health resort in Santa Fe, NM. They have a few high end rooms with various Japanese themes. This configuration was for a high-tech room called "Sailor Moon" themed after the anime of the same name. The buttons and backgrounds are from the built-in "Smooth" template but I've included transitional images from the "Sailor Moon" cartoon. I've spent a great deal of time making the user interface extremely intuitive and simple since it will be used by various guests staying in the room who will have no prior experience with the system. It may be helpful to anyone trying to design a remote interface for a customer to whom ease of use is the primary goal. Hope it helps somebody! Home Automation with an MX-3000 From: Greg Francis For: URC MX-3000 | I've been a computer programmer for longer than I care to admit. It took some time to get used to the development environment for the MX-3000, but this forum helped a LOT. I'm finally posting my RCC file that controls all electronics and lights in my house, inside and out. Many of my controls for the various devices I borrowed from various posts here. I even took some digital pics my rooms and of some of my remotes to put them in the remote either as backgrounds or to use for buttons. I also tried to standardize the layout somewhat, almost every screen has a return arrow in the lower left to go to the previous screen, each room has a lights button in the middle of the bottom edge, each room has a power on/off button in the lower right, each lights screen has an All Off button. I used a lot of variables to determine which devices were on, and each light has its own variable so when it is off the slider is red and to the left, when it is on it is green and to the right. I use X-10 modules for the holiday lights and then hide those buttons during the off season. I even have a Packer G icon on the main page which brings up the schedule with buttons on each game to switch to the proper channel to watch the game. It may not be the slickest looking design, but after 2 minutes of training anyone can use it.
