This is a gift for my brother in law. I have a decent but unimpressive programmable remote - Zensonic Z150 which has macros, and I'm familiar with micros as well. I'd like to get something a bit nicer for him. This is mine:

What I'm looking for:
* all buttons can learn
* at least 4 macros
* backlit, preferably with a light that stays on after pressing once
* easy to use
* hard buttons rather than touch screen

Ideally, it would have a small screen with adjacent macro buttons so that a custom label such as "watch DVD" can be made, or some other equivalent function.

Any suggestions you guys can give would be great.

FYI I'm not one of those lazy people who won't do any of the work - I have started researching what's available, and will continue.

Forgot to mention. Price wise I'm looking for something in the budget to middle range. Say $70 - $200 Australian which is probably below about US $140.

I would recommend the HTM MX-500, or one of the higher-end models.
