Okay, I have a Vextra 6 in 1 universal remote and I don't want to go out and buy another. How would I program that for tape speed adjustment?

You don't, only UEI made remotes have access to advanced codes for missing commands.

So have you tried the procedure in post #2 of this thread with the Time Warner remote?

"Didn't work" doesn't help. From that description we can't even tell if setup code 0032 was accepted by your remote.

Which one of these is your remote?
What is the model number of your Sony?
Does 0032 control any function on the VCR?
Specifically what function are you looking for?  A SP/EP switch?  Slow/Fast playback?

0032 worked, and I am trying to adjust from SP to EP.

Well, SP/EP on Sony VHS VCRs is EFC=00226, using setup code Video 0032.
Just to make sure.

Assign 0032 to the DVD button. I'll assume that you want ot assign SP/LP to the PIP Swap button.

1) Press DVD
2) Press Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 994 (should get two blinks)
4) Tap Setup
5) Enter 00226
6) Tap PIP Swap
The remote should blink twice.

Okay, I have another problem. I have a Sanyo all-in-one stereo (CD, radio, tape), the same TWC remote, and I programmed in 0801. That controls the stereo just fine, but how do I set the clock on it? I can't find a button that does that!

Hi. Don't know if any still look at this thread, but here I go. I've got a Sony vcr I got from a thrift store, with no remote... Slv n55. I've got two Radio shack remotes that work with it..one I just got off Ebay that's mentioned above. I've punched in 0032, and I've used 0226 on one, and 00226 on the other for tape speed, and the lcd on the Sony lights up with SP, stays on for maybe 3 seconds, then goes back to the time. No button works to change the setting to EP. I'm at a loss as to how to change it, other than thru the menu and making a programed recording. I can't get it to let me program a button for it either. It's like the memory isn't holding for some reason, but I expect there is something I'm not doing right, and just can't figure out what it is. Any ideas appreciated. Thanks. T
