I just recently purchased an Olevia 232V Hi-Def TV for my elderly parents. The TV is great especially for the price. The only problem that I am having is that the company doesnt have a Universal code for this models remote control. I've been in contact w/ Olevia and they have no answer for me or the thousands of people who own the same model and are having the same problem. Having 2 remotes to run the cable and the tv would not be the end of the world to me, but for my elderly parents it becomes a real hassle. What I need to know is: Will an IR Learning Remote be able to learn directly from the Olevia remote? if not what would be the best process/Remote that would enable me to program both TV and Cable systems to one single (hopefully easy to use) remote control?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes. You can learn the codes.

You probably don't want a high end remote I assume. Check out something like the Sony RM-VL600.

I suggest the Sony rm-vl710. Only 5 device remote, big keys, its been discontinued but bunch of refurbished models have showed up ebay.

Quite a price difference though...I think he's talking about a cheaper remote.

The RM-VL710 was great for that application...and if you can still find it, great! It's very easy to use.

Thanks to everybody for all the replies, I'm considering the VL600 I just need to physically hold one to see if it's best. If anybody has another recommendation please continue to post here.

Thanks again.

If you want a cheap learning remote, the RM-VL600 (or 710 if you prefer) really is your go-to model...
