If a setup code will get any response from the TV, tell us what the setup code is, and what repsopnse you get.

The small black remote is intended to run the Comcast DTA which uses a different IR protocol than the dct700.  You can buy a Comcast DVR remote (red OK/Select button) on eBay for typically $6 shipped.  Use setup code 01376.  You may need to unlock the cable setup code with:
1) Press setup until 2 blinks
2) Enter 982
The remote should blink 4 times.  If it blinks twice, repeat steps 1 and 2.

Signed up to say thanks! Got it fixed, well before the comcast call back. Which would have most likely been no help.

Thanks for putting this out there !

Hey guys, I have an LG plasma TV with the comcast remote with the RED OK/select button. The remote controls the volume on my TV, but will not control the Motorola cable box.

Already tried: basic resets, changed batteries, reset cable box.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Follow the instructions in post #123.  If that still doesn't work, try setup code 01982 (since you didn't bother to tell us which model of Motorola).

Sorry about that. It is a DVR/cable box Motorola RNG200N. Does that make a difference with the setup codes?

Use 01982, after unlocking the cable setup code with command 982.

Hello 3FG, I did unlock the cable box, then tried 01982 with no success. Any other thoughts?

FYI, my remote was working perfectly fine until I had some tiles put in surrounding my TV; not sure how that would make a difference since cable box works independent of the remote, and the remote is clearly able to unlock and lock the cable box.

The 982 command doesn't do anything to the cable box.  It simply puts the remote into a state where it will accept a setup code for the cable device.  Keeps people from inadvertently assigning a TV setup code to the cable device.  The lock is on the setup code, not the cable box.

Make sure that the Cable button on the remote flashes when you're trying to control the remote.

The other possibility is that the new tile is reflecting a source of IR to the cable box.  This kind of interference can confuse a component.  Try the remote when it is close to the cable box IR eye and you are shielding the eye from other possible sources of IR.

If the remote can control the box, then you'll need to take steps to shield the eye.  Sometimes just putting some tape over the eye to reduce the total amount of IR will take care of it.

I received 2 cable boxes with remotes when I signed up with Comcast. It says that each remote is programed to a specific cable box. My question...Is it possible to program the remote to work with the cable box that it is not programed to? I hope you understand what I'm saying. Not too good at explaining myself.

Follow the instructions (carefully, paying attention to the flashes of the LED) given in post #96 of this thread.  Please note that 01982 is a setup code, but 43205 is an EFC used to program an individual button.  The procedure for assigning an EFC is quite different from assigning a setup code.  Since your remote mostly controls the cable box, the setup code is already correct.
