Ah, I wrote the number wrong-- it is 00117 for A.

Did you try entering channel number 001? If that gives you OnDemand, you can enter a macro to send that combination.

Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 995
Tap the OnDemand button
Enter 001
Press Setup until 2 blinks

Another possibility is to use "1" followed by "Enter"

Alternately if your "OnDemand" is on a different channel than "1", use that channel and possibly OK/Select for the step "ENTER 001"
i.e.

Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 995
Tap the OnDemand button
Enter 1-9-9-OK/select
Press Setup until 2 blinks

I have lost some functions on my remote which operates a Comcast RNG 110. Specifically channel up and down when using the comcast remote. I also use my Vizio blue tooth remote to operate the RNG and nothing works now with that remote. I unplugged the RNG over night and nothing changed...Any ideas, or is my box needing the swap?

Assuming you're using 01982 for cable, try EFC 39877

Argh! I'm soooo frustrated!

Help! Got a new remote from Comcast and code 01982 works for everything EXCEPT MyDVR and the Exit button that is used to exit from the Guide etc. I see that other in this forum are having success with EFC 39877 (or MyDVR 00175) BUT I can't find the instructions 'cause I can't locate post #51 or #59! Sigh!

I tried the instructions for MyDVR 00175 and it didn't work.

BTW, the OnDemand button works.

I got a brand new Cisco RNG200n cable box with a brand new Comcast Remote Silver with Red Ok Button.

PLEASE spell it out for me! Thanks!

This thread is long and usually displays on several pages.  Your post is #96, and that info is written just above your user name.  You can navigate between pages by using the controls near the top and bottom of each page.

It's also important to realize that Comcast uses two different IR signal protocols.  EFCs beginning with 00xxx are used with setup code 01376/00476.  EFCs like 39877 are used with setup code 01982.

Exit is 39877
MyDVR is 43205

For example to assign MyDVR:

1) Press Cable
2) Press and hold Setup until 2 blinks
3) Enter 994 (should see another 2 blinks)
4) Tap Setup (don't hold it.)
5) Enter 43205
6) Tap MyDVR
The remote should blink twice to indicate that it recognized the procedure.

Now MyDVR should work.

I have the comcast rng200 dvr cable box and the comcast remote with the red OK/select button. The batteries died in my remote (for the first time since I've had it), and when I replaced the batteries, it wouldn't work with the box. I figured it had to be re-synched to the box and found this thread. So I went through the sequence to make sure the remote isn't locked. It's not. Then I pressed CBL, held the setup button until it blinked twice, entered 01982, saw it blink twice again, and still nothing works on the remote. It's obviously recognizing the sequence. So I'm confused, as this seemed to work for everyone else. I tried the CBL button again, tried a bunch of buttons...nothing. Any idea what's going on? Thanks.

No good idea, but I would try shutting off power to the RNG200 for a couple of minutes, and then powering up again.
The Comcast remotes use flash memory, so dead batteries shouldn't change any of the settings.

I have the Comcast Cisco RNG200N HD/DVR cable box. In a moment of stupidity, I accidentally did a full reset. I was able to restore basic functionality (01982) as well as restore myDVR(43205) and the exit(39877) buttons (through 3FG's helpful posts), but am still at a loss for the "A", "B", and "C" buttons as well as the 15 second rewind button (swirly arrow). I am trying to find a 30 second skip that will work, but still have not been successful.

Side note: The page up button does the 5 minute skip forward, but the page down button does not skip backward.

Thanks for any and all help.

Here's all of the 5 digit EFCs for the RNG 100/150/200 and other boxes which use the Cable 1982  (01982) setup code.  See  post #97 for an example of how to assign these EFCs.

Hello, I have read through this entire thread but am a little nervous to try anything. I'm not sure if I am having the same specific problems that are here but seem like this is on the right track.

We just bought a new Samsung TV last night. After we got everything set up, the cable remote worked a few times. It would bring up the guide but get stuck and not move at all. I told my husband, "it's almost like it's to much for the TV to handle", it would freeze, we would turn the TV off and then it would work a few times and then freeze again.

Today the remote does not work at all with the TV on. If I turn the TV off, I can change channels (and see the change on the box) and then if I turn the TV back on, it is on the new channel. Of course there is no way for me to tell if the other buttons are working with the TV off.

We have a Motorola HDMI HD Dual Tuner DVR DCH3416 Box. We have a silver Comcast remote with a red OK/Select button.

Can you help with this? TIA

One possibility is that the new TV (especially if it is a plasma) is emitting infrared light from the TV screen, and this is interferring with the IR sensor in the cable box.  Try shielding the IR sensor of the cable box so that only IR from the remote can get in.  Note that IR can reflect of walls, pictures, etc. so you may need to make a small funnel and aim the remote into the funnel.

If you can get good operation this way, then you can try something more permanent.  Sometimes just pasting a piece of paper over the cable box sensor will cut down the interference while still allowing the cable remote to function.
