Is it possible to purchase a remote with a touch screen that I could then set up to mimic, visually, the 5 remotes it will be replacing so that others, less technically inclined can then just pick up and use as they would the original remotes?

Yes, But you would need a remote with a touchscreen and it will have to have mutiple page flips to make everything fit. Take a look at the Pronto remotes and also take a look at the Universal MX3000

The big hitch in the Universal Remote quest seems to be my Sony 400 Disc DVD unit. It has so many functions and so many options that it would take, probably, several pages and lots of buttns to recreate the OEM remote. Is this something that either of these remotes could handle.

Would I be better off in the long run just letting the people at Ovation (retail store in town) just sell me a touch screen like you recommend and let them program it?

If your en-expirienced with the Pronto, then yes, hiring a pro would be the best to do here, it's pretty hard for someone with-out pronto programming expirience to program this to work with the 400 cd changer.

URC (the company) is usually good about getting most, if not all, of the commands from a factory remote into their database. If that's the case, the MX-3000 would be a great choice!

We also offer programming services, if that is useful to you.

Thank you,
