I just purchased a new LCD TV and a bunch of A/V equipment for my parents for the holidays and I'm getting ready to go install it. I'm thinking I should probably pick up a universal remote that I can setup to make the overall operation of the new equipment manageable. They are not real technical and anything beyond two remotes gets overwhelming for them.

Here's a list of equipment I would like to be able to control from a single remote:

Sony 46" KDL46XBR2 Bravia LCD TV
Dish Network ViP622 satellite receiver/DVR
Onkyo TX-SR674 HT Receiver
Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD player

while testing out all the equipment I realized they are going to need something simple and flexible. In my home system I am using a whole house control system based on the QCQ package which is not an option for the parents since it would be overkill and they are located in a city in another state (no personal support possible).

I haven't really looked into remotes in a few years so any advice helping me narrow it down would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Probably the Harmony, it's pretty user friendly.

I purchased a Harmony 880 for my parents for Christmas, and would recommend the same to you. They aren't particularly savvy with technology and have made good use of the remote's on-screen help. In addition, I have logged into their account a couple of times and made adjustments to their remote...all they have to do is synch it!
