Hi, I need a remote that I can program macros with long delays (about 1 to 2 hours). I currently use a Pronto 940 which only allows a maximum of 99.9 second delays, so I have to use many delay commands to equate to hours. Can anyone help ? Regards, Den.

Well, the first question, so that we can maybe help figure out if there's a different way that things could be done, would be "why".

OK, here goes. I've spent 3 years building a 10 seater cinema at my home. At present, I use the Pronto 940. I hit a button and the macro begins. The amp comes on, plays soft music whilst everyone is being seated, after a while the amp switches soarce, the lights dim, exit light comes on, the curtains open and the computer plays a home made sequence of "switch your phones off", "this cinema is installed with THX" , "please remain seated" etc., then old advertisements (care of Pearl & Dean) and "coming soon" trailers followed by an intermission (5 minutes). The curtain closes, lights up, music plays. After 5 minutes, the amp switches soarce again, plays an announement, "please be seated, the main feature is about to begin", lights dim, curtain opens, amp switches soarce to dvd, dvd plays film. After about 90 minutes (determined by the length of film then programmed in Pronto) , the lights come up, projector off, curtains close and an announcement "thank you for coming, have a safe journey home". I have bben as brief as I can and I have simplified the events (there are a lot of various lighting effects and speakers in every room in the house including bathroom and toilet which are switched on and off at various points via X10). That's about it !

I need the lengthy macros because I only wish to hit one button to operate ONE macro rather than a macro at the beginning and a macro at the end of the film.

sorry, nothing really constructive to offer here... what if you want to adjust the vol or s/thing while watching the movie? i suppose you have a separate universal remote with the 940 being designated to this macro?

Good point mate, but I use the Yamaha Amp remote or whatever remote I need. The volume setting is normaly part of the macro as it fades out at the end titles.

I may seem a bit thick, but what is a LMAO ?

Regards, Den.

The rti system will give you 240 sec blocks but you need to be a dealer to get the software or hire a pro either way grate remote system

Thanks, that helps. I am in the TV, Video and Audio trade in the UK. I have a retail outlet but only sell dedicated branded remote controls. I will look into the RTI, thanks again.

Den,

Thats one extreme macro!!

I like it!

I can honestly say that I've never tried to plan a whole evening with a macro such as this.

It would be immpressive to say the least.

Unless you can write a program for your computer, RTI may be your only choice.

It is a great remote line.

Add an RP-6 for rf control so you don't have to keep the remote pointed at the equipment. The macro is stored in the RP-6, not the remote.

By the way,

LMAO = laugh my a*s off.

If you set a marcro for that long you will not be able to use contol of the remote. If the marco is running I don't think that you will be able to use any functions. You might also want to look into AMX or Crestron. I belive with the right programming you will be able to have the system hold a timer function and use the remote at the same time. Its also going to give you lots more control and automation of the system and also gives you feedback.
