Hey all - thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Here is what I currently have:

TV- Philips 37PF7320A/37B
Reciever - Sony STR-DG800
DVD - Samsung HD-860
Directv- HR20-700

Musts:
-Control these units (obviously)
-Ability to have a "watch dvd" button (and others)so it sets the reciever,tv,and dvd to the right settings. Harmony's call these activities? I think I can also use macros to do this?
-RF - i want to put somethings in a closet right next to my setup so I wont have to look at everything all the time (Do I need a remote with RF or is there some kind of kit I can buy to do this?)

Would like:
- About 200 bucks or less (total, if I have to buy something to simulate RF). I refuse to go past 250 and it has to be incredable for me to spend over 200
- Not going to lie here, the Harmony 880 and others look real sharp with the LCD screens
- I am considering controlling a rooms lights also
- Wouldn't mind having a remote than can store different setups based on what room of my house I am in

Don't Cares:
- Button types (hard,soft)

They're called macros. All decent remotes do them.

Get a remote with RF. You can try IR extenders but save yourself the hassle.

If you're looking for RF, you'll have to spend around $250 minimum.

Yes, they are cool looking. But the 880 is not RF, you need to go to the 890.

I'd reccomend the MX-850 from URC. From www.surfremote.com, (email [email protected] to get the coupon code) you can get it in combination with the MRF-250 base station for about $275. That's about as cheap as it'll get. It only has a black and white LCD screen, but it's a great remote. It is fully customizable, has a huge code database, and unlimited macros.

For the same price, you could get the Harmony 890. In my opinion, Harmonies are generally less customizable than URC remotes. You set them up through a web page tutorial, not a software program. URC's let you customize them much, much more. URC also has a better reliability than Harmony.

However, if you like how the Harmony looks, you may want to get that.

Either way, expect to pay about $275 at the least if you want RF.
LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!

I'll second the MX-850. Had it for a year or so and it does everything you are looking for. The LCD screen that labels button has a "main" screen where you'd put up your "activities" which i did. You can have 2 pages of "main", so 1 for either room or the second page could be for hiding stuff or whatever. Very slick remote.
