Hello, i recently purchased a used Curtis international tv dvd combo LEDVD2488A-B and did not come with a remote. I tried to contact Curtis international but they are saying it will take 15 days before it even ships out. Anyone know of a good universal remote that would work for me? Thanks a ton!

I looked in the manual, and it appears that the IR protocol is NEC1, device 0.127  (127 expressed in hexadecimal is 7F).  Other Curtis TVs use this same IR protocol.  The diagram of the remote in the manual then shows all the function numbers for the buttons, so we know each IR command.

However, I'm not aware of any cheap universal remote that has this set of commands built in.  You can program a RCA RCRP05B to control the unit, using setup code TV 1548.  The remote won't control the TV until you've programmed each button with a 5 digit EFC.  Let me know if you're interested in doing this and I'll convert the function numbers into the EFCs.

Any help would be great! I tried an 18$ Phillips universal remote from Wal-Mart it said it worked with Curtis TVs and tv DVD combos but it wouldn't work for me unless maybe I did something wrong. Really the only thing I need the remote is for the ok button and the DVD eject button I have no way to play movies or eject them or change source i guess. But again Amy help would be appreciated!

The remote I picked up is a Phillips SRP5107/27. Would this work? I can take it back tomorrow and swap it out for the RCA RCRP05B. I'm not sure how to individually program buttons tho is their maybe a tutorial? My google attempts haven't brought up much for me. Thanks again I really appreciate it!

The Philips won't work; only certain remotes made by UEI can be manually programmed this way.  Assign setup code 1548 or 2189 to the TV button (or use the 992 command to convert some other device button to TV type). Use the 994 command to assign the following EFCs to buttons.  However, you can't assign an EFC to the Power button, so use something else, e.g. Live.  The 3rd column below is the function number and I've included it to help others who may want to convert to Pronto Hex.
