Any idea on how to do this. Tried some different codes last nite and could not get it to work.

try the following:
First there has to be a TV code programmed to the TV device of the volume keys won't work at all, then:
1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks, release
3. enter 3 1 2 5 4
1. av1 or av2
2. press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks, release
3. enter 9 9 3
4. press SELECT
With RCA's use of two key power scheme, you won't be able to power it both on and off, NOTHING can be done about it, sorry you'll have to live with it.
