Hello,

I have a modest home theater with a typical set-up. Projector, AV Receiver, DVR, HTPC, XBOX, etc. I'm looking for reccomendations on a remote. Most of my equipment is underneath my stairs and so an RF-Extender is a requirement. I'm not afraid to dive in and program the remote myself. In fact I prefer to.

I had the URC MX-810. I was happiest with the programming on this remote. The LCD tied to hard buttons was a bit limiting but workable. I really disliked the tactile response of the buttons, it was like crinkling paper or rubber against rubber squeaking. I also disliked how hard it was to get the programming software.

When the MX-810 died, I purchased a Harmony 890 Pro. I've hated this remote. The programming software is very limited. The RF range is a crap (maybe do to a competing 900mhz baby monitor). Half the time the macros don't fire correctly, probably due to the range. The list continues, but bashing the remote isn't what I'm here for, needless to say I'm anxious to cut my losses.

I'm looking at a Pronto, specifically the 9300. I like that I can get the PEP software here. However, I'm struggling to purchase just the hardware, I'm not interested in paying for programming. Also, short of finding one used, it may be outside my price range.

So, is there a good remote that someone can suggest, that's a step up from the Harmony, and within $350 including the RF-IR extender, and is available to purchase as just hardware? Used is fine.

I'm closing this thread. I found an amazing deal on a TSU7500 and a couple RFX600s. A bit older, but I think it will work great.

You can't close the thread, only a moderator can close a thread. Bwahahahahahahahaha. ;)

Anyways, good find, both are solid pieces.
