Hey guys,
Never been on to this part of the form (I am always over at the HDTV part), but turns out my HDTV viewing and my new TV has lead me here. Recently, we went out and purchased a beautiful SHARP LC 26SH20U TV. I decided to put the LCD in the kitchen, with a strong wall mount, so that I could tilt the TV to the big window that overlooks the backyard and our hot tub. I have now spent a few nights in there watching sporting events, and since the TV has Stereo Outputs, I went and got some Wireless speakers. It has been great, but now I would like the ability to change the station while I am in the hot tub. I would perfer something that could easily get wet and even submerged under water. I have a waterproof phone that does this well, it also floats, so that would be swell, but mostly just care for something that I can just use and get wet often.
Is there such a sucker? I went on to eBay and I only found some Aussie models, but none of them listed my TV, plus I would rather buy something in North America, or the best would be in the Greater Toronto Area.
Anyone who has any ideas about getting a Waterproof remote would be greatly appreciated...

Check out this one. The manufacturer's website is www.balboa-direct.com. Never used it so I can't comment on it's performance, but since it can learn commands it'll work with your TV.

3 remotes come to mind, The Balboa Dolphin as stated above, The RTI U1 and Crestron WP-48
The Balboa being the least expenzive, The RTI is a RF remote only so it will need a RP-1 or RP-6/RM433 as well as a dealer to install, and Crestron, also will need a processor, RF gateway and a dealer

There's no worse feeling than that millisecond you're sure you are going to die after leaning your chair back a little too far. |

Quart-sized zip-lock bags are cheap.... and it would float. :)
We did this in arizona at a friend's house so we could watch TV while in the hot tub. Not sure how practical it would be over the long term, and we really didn't leave it in the bag, floating around in the hot tub. But it worked quite well and kept the remote dry. I think the most we ever had to touch the remote while tubbing was about 3 times over the course of 2 hours in the tub (or so).

Another solution could be a serious waterproof bag. http://www.thewaterproofstore.comI am in no way endorsing this company and have never ordered from them. Just using as an example of what is out there. Check it out.

I would have thought that there would have been an economical version of this...

What about one of these < http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180062044573&sspagename=ADME:L:RTQ:CA:1 > ? Does anyone have knowledge about it? The seller said it is from a European company known as HQ? Does that mean that it will be a European code set and I should be leery?

Without learning functions, compatibility isn't guaranteed.

You may want to browse at West Marine, REI or Mountain Equipment Coop or similar for a heavy duty waterproof VHF marine radio bag. Most of these have a zip-lock like closure and are sturdily made.

I agree. Just buy a $10 remote at wal-mart and put it in a ziplock or get a slightly better soft case like from the above poster on the waterproofstore. If it dies just get a new one.
