I have found myself looking for a simple IR learning remote several times over the last couple of years. Something cheap (for church TV setups where they lose the remote once a year or something similar).

I've needed as few as 2 buttons and as many as TV power, vol, disc player power and transport controls.
Dead simple "programming". Learn an IR code from a OEM remote to a button. No macros, just an IR code regurgitator (to put it crudely).
Pre labeled buttons are ok but lableable buttons would be even better.

Anyone seen a remote like this? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Check out the clicker picker section. There are SONY remotes in the $25 dollar range that may work well in this situation.

I was looking for the same thing as the OP. I didn't find the remote selector all that helpful for finding this 'specialty' universal remote

These models below have several models that really seem to fit the OP's needs. It's somewhat surprising to me that there are not more of these keep-it-stupid-simple type of remotes out there.

(see related remotes too)

Also, if macro functionality is important. I believe that you may be able to find another simple remote from from Universal Remote Control (that is now discontinued) called the MX200 'Sidekick' on ebay etc.

The URC MX-350 is still a great IR/RF remote for those who seek an entry level IR/RF based remote.
