I'm looking for help in a remote control and I will try to be specific. I need a remote that will control the following:

Denon A/V receiver- to control volume, source, power to all devices with one touch

Cable box or Directv (have cable now but am going to be switching to Directv soon)- to control channels

DVD player- to control the DVD functions.

TV- with channels being controlled through the cable box and volume through the receiver, the only thing for the tv is power.

I want to be able to hit the power button and have the tv, cable box, DVD player, and receiver all come on. I can then use the channel keys to control the cable box and the volume keys to control the receiver volume, then hit the power key one time to turn all 4 devices off.

The remote I have now does those things but to turn things off (or on), I have to hit "receiver" power, then "cable" power, then "DVD" power, and then "tv" power.

Suggestions?

Any remote with macros, punchthroughs and/or code learning will do what you want. What's your budget?

I'd like to keep it under $50 if possible.

Lots will work. I like the RCA RCRP05B (<$20 at Best Buy, Walgreens, Sears, etc. and online). It's made by the same company (UEI) that makes the DirecTV remotes, but has quite a bit more flexibility. For example, you can add functions for your Denon receiver, like discrete input commands which may not be in the OEM remote.

The Sony RM-VLZ620 is another good choice.
The main things you're looking for here are volume punch through and macros.

This is my first visit to this site...but I have a similar problem as stated above. I have a philips FR965 Home Theater Receiver. I have a Mitsubishi television. I don't have the model number with me as I write. I have Direct TV. I have an Emerson DVD player. For my husband where less is better, I need the most basic remote possible to control the volume on the receiver, turn the tv on and off and of course work all the Direct TV channels etc. He doesn't even use the Dvd player so I am not concerned about that. Can you offer any suggestions please. Again, the more basic for him, the better. Thanks so much.
thanks, bkb
