I have lost the remote for my Paramount Pictures HCS5500DR DVD Home Cinema Surround Sound System and wondered what the best replacement remote would be as I cannot find who manufactures this or any codes

Thank you in advance for your help

It was a gift and the person was moving away and is out of contact now. It was not boxed and had been used by the person therefore I have no paperwork for it,

your best bet would be to get a cheap all-in-one remote that has the ability to test codes in order. In other words, instead of having to enter every code and test it, you can just hit the page up to test codes.

Many thanks for your reply, the only real question now is, not being familiar with all-in-one remotes, is there a particular brand/model that has codes to suit my particular equipment that is, a dvd player/surround sound system made!! by Paramount Pictures

The problem you have is your equipment.

Paramount Pictures makes movies, not surround sound systems. Never has. It's probably a cheap Chinese unit that stole the name and sole it through flea markets and street vendors, (like gypsies).

I'm not familiar with the inexpensive DIY remotes, but I do know that I have never seen Paramount as a choice for IR codes.

I would go with a basic Sony or Philips, no more that $20US.

Good luck.
