Several years ago I purchased an RF universal remote, the remote is manufactured by Universal, and it has worked well for me. I Think it's an RF 20 model with the RF base plugged into my A/V receiver (I'm not home so I cant say for sure) and I want to get a remote for my PC that the Universal remote can learn from.

I am now trying to get a HTPC system working in 2 different rooms. The A/V signal will come from my PC upstairs through an HDMI to my upstairs TV as well as my downstairs TV. I need an RF remote for my Windows 7 64bit PC that will allow me to run XBMC on both TV's

Make sense?
Anybody done this or have a recommendation

So are you looking for a new main remote or for some way to add remote control capabilities to your PC?

I'm looking to add capabilities to my PC. I very much like the main remote I have but need a PC remote that I can learn the codes from, or not, I suppose if the remote works well enough I could judt use it but I like to keep the remote's to a minimum. I just dont know a thing about a PC remote and whether or not they are compatible with XBMC

I've used one. It works fine. Most PCs will use a "Media Center Remote" and either an internal or external IR receiver, but they're actually a little hard to buy after the fact.

Another example, most Hauppauge TV tuners can be bought with remote control capabilities built-in. By default those only work on the stock Hauppauge software, but they have a utility that converts the drivers to standard MCE capable.

This remote appears to use RF (Radio Frequency) only. Keep in mind that RF cannot be learned or emulated due to it being proprietary in nature.

You need a remote that uses IR (infrared) to learn codes effectively.
