I have Directv and a Sony Blu-ray. Both are in a closet behind the wall mounted TV which is also a Sony. My Directv remote works through the wall to my Directv box just fine. However, my New Blu-ray does not. What should I buy to fix this? I need something easy to use and easy to install. Please help as this is a Christmas present.

An IR repeater will work, you can pick one up from one of your local A/V stores.

I know this isn't a new "remote" however this would be a VERY simple solution for your problem.

I just got one of the "NextGen" RF remote extenders about a week ago and it works GREAT!

Super easy to install. I have a similar setup, I just installed an LCD on my wall that is fed via a HDMI switch (2 Comcast DVR's, 1 Sony BluRay, 1 HK AVR) in my recently re-purposed "[STRIKE]Linen[/STRIKE]/Media" closet in the hall.

I should have said a good quality IR repeater will work fine for what you want to do.

Do not be fooled by the above poster's spam. Just remember the old adage, "you get what you pay for."

My "Spam"?

Just because my first post endorses a product (That I own and use daily) other than some line of sight POS or some 3000$ Crestron remote solution doesn't make it spam.

You could use an IR repeater if you want to add extra crap to your tv installation (IR Transceiver) , but if you, like me, prefer the clean appearance of just the TV on the wall without anything else distracting from the picture without spending disproportionate amounts of money, then the RF transmitter is a great solution as the IR blaster is placed in the closet with the STB's, BDPlayer and AVR. here's a quick pic I snapped after hanging the TV on my Cell. .

.

I specifically didn't want to get an "IR Repeater from the local retailer" because they usually require you to mount them in LOS of your seating area. I didn't want something like the one below just "hanging out" around my TV:

Wireless IR Repeater
