Hi, please forgive the potentially dumb question, but...

I have a Crestron ML-500 controlling a KDS Flash-4 component video switcher, which in turn controls my equipment. I've had the remote for years, and live in terror of anything happening to it, because I'd hate to have to call the guy who put the system in, who was notso-hotso and a bit of a crook.

Since then, I've added some stuff to it -- new DTV PVR, DVD player, etc, to replace the long-since-dead devices he installed -- so all I use the remote for now is ON/OFF, switching between inputs, volume, and opening/closing drapes. Then I switch to my current DTV remote (also RF) to control the PVR, DVD, Roku, etc., since the ML-500 was custom-programmed.

Is there a (less-expensive) RF remote I could buy that would learn the essential RF commands from the old remote, just in case? If it could also control the stuff I've added on, that would be a bonus.

Thanks for any help!

I'm afraid you won't be "learning RF" to anyone's RF remote. You could certainly start anew with something lime a URC MX450 and MRF260, or maybe a MX900 and MRF260 if you can get URC software with the purchase.
