I have had a sony RM series, a Pronto 3000, and right now I have a Nevo Q50 that I got when they first came out. My Nevo I really liked due to having all the hard buttons, I liked it more than my Pronto. My Q50 has developed some major problems. It will randomly apply the forward or reverse DVR functions. When you hit one button the one next to it will be applied. As well as a few other things. I can say I am disappointed that it didn't hold up better/longer than it has.

I have narrowed it down to a shorter list that I am interested in. In no particular order

Harmony One
Harmony 650
Harmony 700
Acoustic Research ARRX18G Xsight touch
Acoustic Research ARRX15G Xsight

Right now I am only controlling about 6 components, NO PS3 but an Xbox. I do use macros and need to be able to apply delays between functions of the macros. My past remotes have been programmed via computer and I think I would prefer that due to making it easier to tweek the program.

So I am looking for any insight and recommendations that you can give me. Also ones you might recommend to stay away from. Also is one of the above going to last me longer than the others. I am not overly hard on them, I don't drop them or throw them, but I will use it a fair amount.

Thank you in advance

Anyone have any idea? I have decided I don't really want any of the URC remotes, for a couple reasons.

1. The Mx-450 is a little more than I want to spend right now.
2. They aren't computer programed, making macros difficult to program.
3. the R-50 does have a rechargeable battery.

The MX-450 macros are easily programmed and you can see them on the screen. It is superior to the remotes you have on your short list. Despite the non-PC factor it is actually more cutomizable than the other remotes and proboably will give you a much better RF response if used with the MRF-350 or 260 units. Also, as an added factor you can purchase URC lighting down the road and have the ability to control your lighting wirelessly. All you have to do is replace your current dimmer with the URC/Lutron dimmer and your good to go.

I know budgets play a big role in our decisions, but it is not a big difference in price. If things are tight I suggest you save for the better option.

Good luck,
Vincent
