Is there a remote that sends RF and IR signals? I'm looking for a remote that can control X-10 products and can control dimming as well. I also have a Direct TV HD DVR box that my remote now cannot control (Sony AX-4000). I'm interested in the Pronto TSU 3000. Would this remote control all of that? If not what would? Thanks for the help!!!

Lots of remote send RF signals, just not the ones that can directly control X-10.

Go to the X-10 forum and you'll see how you need an intermediate box that is IR controlled and then sends the info out the power lines to the X-10 modules.

Give us a price range, and we can give you some better ideas.

The TSU 3000 would do the trick, minus the caveats above, but I'm not sure it's your best choice.

Why can your Sony 4000 not control the DVR? Perhaps we can help you with that and save you buying a new remote.

It doesnt have any pre-programmed codes for the specific HD DVR that I have and it won't learn any of the buttons. Not even one button. It also wouldn't dim my lights. I just bought a Pronto TSU7000 on eBay and hopefully that should do the trick. The Sony remote PC program was very easy for me to use and I know that ProntoEdit will be more challenging. Is ProntoEdit difficult to use? Any tips or tricks that would be useful?

I read about delays from .01 to 10 seconds that you can program on specific buttons. Why would anyone want to have a delay?
Thanks!!!
