I'm a big, Bang for Buck type guy.

We all know Harmony is good but expensive. I need a remote to control 5+ devices: TV, Blu Ray DVD, AV rec, Comcast box, Xbox 360, maybe getting another device in future but 5 will do for now.

The remote has to be able to run macros, accept codes of all the devices, programming for new model devices not in the d/b, prefer search for codes rather than manually enter individual codes, but should have man. entry too. Plus quality, good tactile feel, smart layout, and just plain work, controlling a majority of the features on each of the devices.

Supply Mfg, avg price, link to Mfg specs.

I will start the list

Sony RM-VLZ620 $27-30, link to manual the specs are not to be found

That is a false statement.

At their best, Harmony is only ok, never good.

Expensive? Have you seen what else is out there? Good remotes like RTI, Crestron, Pronto, and URC cost alot more than Harmony. Example, one of RTI's most popular remote, the T2-C costs $900 and that doesn't even include the programming of it.
