Hello, first I want to apologize for my poor English, because I am from Slovakia.
I need an advice. I have IR receiver SFH5111-36 and I need remote controller which transmit RC5 with carrier frequency 36kHz, but I cannot find one at shops.
Could you help me which one shoul I buy?
Thank you for answers.
Peter

I think there is some confusion here. The RC5 protocol specifies the modulation frequency as 36KHz, and that is the frequency used in nearly all universal remotes for RC5 signals. There is some variation among remotes, but I would expect that any universal will transmit within a few percent of 36KHz. So you should be able to find these in local shops.

But that's not the whole story.

The RC5 protocol allows for 32 device numbers, and 64 command numbers (128 in the RC5x protocol). RC6 looks almost the same, with 36KHz, but the lead-in part of the signal is different, and it offers 256 device numbers and 256 command numbers.

Most universals can send only a few of the 32 (or 256 in RC6) possible device numbers, and also a limited subset of the command numbers. Newer OneForAll brand remotes can send (after manually programming each button of the remote) all possible device and command numbers for RC5.

Are you sure that you need RC5 and not RC5x or RC6? Do you know which device and command numbers are needed?

I am sure, I need RC5, because I have this device www.pixhost.org/show/725/1915556_scheme.jpg and from remote controller I need just 10 or 12 buttons for turn on each LED independently and for combination of LEDs. The device and command numbers depends on how I program the microcontroller...
thanks for reply...

OK, it sounds like any remote which can send RC5 should work-- but you probably want to know what device and command numbers it is sending. There is (or was) some standardization of RC5 device and command numbers. One good approach is to get a universal that claims to support Marantz receivers, because Marantz publishes the IR codes for each function in their receivers. So you can work backward from Marantz' documentation to figure out the device and command numbers that the remote sends.

I think the safest thing is to get a OneForAll (or sister brand) remote, because the signals these remotes send are tabulated. Best case is to get a OneForAll that has either the RC5/RC5x or RC5/RC6 Combo protocols. You can program each button on such a remote to send any RC5 device and command number.

Use the Lookup Tool, Protocol Search, RC5/RC5x or RC5/RC6 Combo protocol. Leave "%" signs for the devices and click Search. On the next page, look at the far right column. Click on the number and you'll see a list of possbile remotes. Anything starting with URC is a OneForAll, 15-xxxx is Radio Shack, and most of the others are cable company remotes.

For example, choose RC5/RC5x Combo, and the first entry has the number 53 in the far right column. That means 53 remotes have that setup code, and are known to be suitable for your task.

If you do buy one of these remotes, we'll tell you how to assign EFCs to each button for the particular device and command numbers.
