Okay this tv was nice and cheap for me but of course this is why its so hard to do this.
So i have two remotes 1 daytek that came with the tv
and 1 thats shaw atlas M1055 learning remote

Now when i contacted daytek they said there was no code for the tv and that the universal remote could learn from the tv remote but honestly i tried and it does not seem to be working, I am in university for computer science so i think i read a manual but please let me know what are my options for tvs that are just plain unsupported by all the new remotes controls.

Thanks
-Alex

Daytek uses a variety of IR protocols. Please tell us the exact model of Daytek you have.

Here are some setup codes that may partially work.
11088, 10672, 11706, 11207.

Try pressing a lot of the remote buttons (while the TV is on) and watch for any kind of response from the TV. Do this for eac hsetup code. If you do get any response, please note the setup code, and the remote button that you pressed, as well as the actual function the TV performed.
Once you get a response, we can probably figure out the codes.

For learning, it is imperative that you have fresh batteries in both remotes. Also, it may be necessary to try different separations between the remotes, and possibly to vary the length of the button presses. You're using the 975 command, right? After you press a target device button, does the remote light up for 10 seconds or so? The LED should go off once it thinks it has a good learn, or has timed out.
Press Setup until 2 blinks
Enter 975 (2 blinks)
Press a Device button (TV e.g.)
Press a button to learn onto.
(LED should now be on)
Press and hold the button on the teaching remote.
LED on learning remote should soon go out.

Hi thanks for the programming information i was successful at programing most buttons or teaching them i guess to the universal remote with your steps and fresh batteries, for the codes my remote takes 4 digits not 5 so when i enter first 4 it flashes but still does not work with any buttons.

i managed to program menu,exit,up,down,right,left,video mode,volumes

which will have to do for now, i was reading about the jmp1.3 cable i believe and was wondering if there is a retail store i could pick one up at and if it will be beneficial in my situation. Beside that tank you = )

Since the Atlas takes 4 digit setup codes, you need to drop the leading 1, which simply implies TV for those Atlases which use 5 digits.

So the setup codes to test are 1088, 0672, 1706, 1207.

A JP1.3 cable would make things pretty easy, because you would be able to download the learned signals into the computer, and the software will tell us exactly the IR protocol, device numbers, and function numbers which were learned. Then it is pretty easy to know or guess any remaining unlearned functions, even ones which aren't in the original Daytek remote. And if the Daytek uses a IR protocol that isn't built in to the Atlas, you'll be able to upload the necessary protocol.

With a cable, you will absolutely be able to get everything working.

Cables aren't available at retail stores. I recommend the one made by Tommy Tyler
