hello, i just recently bought me a lcd emerson flat panel tv ,and i wanted a universal remote to work it along with my dvd and amp reciever(surround sound) well i have bought three remotes that r the cheaper ones up to 24.99 for a phillips, and none seem to work the screen mode function on my new tv, but they will work all the other stuff, lol

the screen mode basically will change my tv screen to wide, sidebar, full and theatre mode, which for me is good while watching ball games wide screen and movies theatre, and so on , the only other button that doesnt work is the still button but i dont ever use it anyway

can someone suggest a decent remote that will learn that screen mode fuction and work it as well as the other stuff ? pretty much all the remotes i have tried will work my onkyo reciever and my magnavox dvd player well but just cant work the things i mentioned above(also i dont really want to go with a big bulky remote and i dont have to have fancy stuff that will burn up batteries like a touch screen) lol

thanks for any help, also can u email me with your suggestions also if it is not too much trouble, cause im new to the forum and may not see your answer here

yes i bought a learning remote one i believe it was a rca but all it would do is i sit the two remotes in front of eachother and it would be no different than using the code , still will not use the screen mode, but keep in mind the most expensive one was that one for 24.99 rca navilight 6 model(i dont believe it would learn functins just remote to remote but i may be mistaking )

thanks for trying to help

I'm not quite sure as to what you're doing. Are you actually learning the codes from one remote to the other? What prohibits you from learning that specific button?

im not sure what u mean by learning a button? i basically follow the instructions by pointing the two remotes at eachother like it says but it doesnt tell u about using a specific function, does it?

I'm not sure what model you're using so I can't look at the manual, but simply pointing the remotes at each other does nothing. Usually you need to set the new remote to "learn" mode, press the button you want to learn the function to, and press the button on your original remote.

Yeah, it's fully learning, so anything without codes you can learn.

Try using the learning feature as per the manual.

just letting u know it works perfect and works all my buttons i wanted, the buttons r more sensitive than my original remotes , on them i have to point towards unit or round about and this sony one picks up more sensitive, i dont know if i like that or not , lol specially when watching the football game and the channel changed on me, lol

but it beats having to use all three remotes and hunting for them for sure

if u have any other suggestions on something cool i may want lmk lol

thank u for all your help , u really r a true gentleman and if u need any help on a wristwatch im your man , lol

take care

joe
