Hi,

Pretty new to customizable remote set-ups in general
though have installed an RTI control system via RP-6..

But am wondering what options are available besides RTI,
cause I have no idea. ?

Specifically I am looking for a system that has customizable wireless or wall mounted devcies, that can send out any ir command and 232 to any other unit. Macros would be nice but not necessary. A design program such as Integration
Designer would be a big plus.

No problems with RTI, just wondering. I am aware of AMX/Creston and don't consider it an option for what I am looking for.

Cheers

URC does offer the MSC400 RF base with 6 ports of RS232.

You can also look into Pronto and Nevo.

Thanks for the help

The URC MSC400 looks pretty cool!

is there anything else that also offers in-wall touch panels?

Looking at the Extron as a possible (expensive) option.

URC Offer on wall KP900 ($299 MSRP), and soon In-Wall KP4000 ($599-maybe)!

RTI is by far better than any URC or Pronto

I guess you didn't read his post, he was looking for options other than RTI, but he had nothing against RTI. I love RTI, but they fill the mid to high end market, not the entry level, and URC and Pronto both have remotes at lower price points than RTI.

Mid market is right, I should have been more clear, options are for small commercial installs (meeting rooms, hotel lobbies and the like).

I like RTI as well and am in the midst of my second install. I was just curious.

In that case, you sould stick with RTI, no one else has the selection of in-wll keypads at that price point. URC only has one KP and it's pricey, (not counting the B&K ones).

RK1-8 and CPB-1 for $500 retail with IR and RS-232 control, and PC programmed. Customized engraved buttons coming soon. Where else are you going t get that? It's a perfect solution for those single room aplications.

You could also do another type of control system like Control 4, Niles or Xantech type system comprised of Keypads with remote(s), Crestron nas the prodigy entry level system, or you could go with a sourdaiu (mixed hybrid generic) system.

Nevo (depending on this next release of software next week) may be a gem in disguise. Nevo's S70 is a fantastic remote, and its curvature and design look well in a commercial environment. I have used Nevo in conference rooms and on desktops, but he new release should really tell where they are going. Nevo is a very comitted company, but they always seem to be outshined.

In your case I like RTI as well because you can integrate the first system into the second so they can communicate and interact with each effectively through a suite of keypads and remotes. I also think you should look at Pronto. Pronto has no keypads, but the new TSU 9800 can be mounted as one and give you nice power. URC would be the least expensive system and give you a decent bang for your buck. When my clients have a similar issue I usually send them out brouchures before we discuss the differences and details.
