I bought a Magnavox Blu-Ray player model #NB500MG9. It did have a remote so I need to buy a universal that will definitely control the functions of this (remember that I do not have the original remote to fall back on). I do not know if I can find this as a display model to use the remote with a learning remote to fill in the codes. So prefer one that can be set from its memory.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I see some Philips/magnavox remotes listed. I wonder if there would be a better chance of finding one in that line that would be preprogramed with the codes for my new player?
Thanks for your help

This player is made by Funai. So it almost certainly uses some variant of the NEC1 IR protocol. The trick is figuring out which device/subdevice numbers are used.

Here's the link to Funai support: www.funai.us/funai/support/index.html.  You can download the manual by typing in the model number.

Why not email them and ask which IR protocol is used?  For example, it might be NEC1, device 135.34.

If you buy a UEI remote (newest is RCA RCRP05B, $20 at BestBuy, but many cable companies also use UEI remotes--tell us if you have one), we can figure out which function commands are needed.  But we will either have to find out or guess the protocol and device numbers, and make sure that the protocol/devices are built into the remote.

I would not expect a Philips/Magnavox remote to have a better chance of having the right code-- this is really a Funai product.

I can say that I don't think that URC has this code in it's database(or I could not find it anyway).

I had to learn it and it wasn't the easiest remote to learn from.
