Hi All,

I've posted this question before but left this whole area for a while to focus on other things.
Hopefully prices have dropped dramatically from their RRP's since I last posted...

I've looked exhaustively through the clicker picker, forum, reviews section, and various other sites/forums that do comparative analysis of remotes.
I never imagined choosing a remote could be as mind numbing as researching other HT/PC components! ;-)

I think $700USD (not inc. post) would be my limit....

I'm interested in hearing your opinions as to what's the the most programmable, yet intuitive RF remote, at or below that price. Of course programmability isn't the only criteria, just the single-most important one.

I want to hear "why" you like a make/model more than competitors with similar sophistication/pricing. I believe the contenders at this price signal to be: URC, Pronto, Nevo.
Let me know if I'm missing any & let the debate/flame-war begin! ;-P

Thanks,
-j.

Just a question first.

Does you budget of $475 include professional programming charges, or just equipment?

Hi All,

I think $400USD (not inc. post) would be my limit, I may consider $475 but that's about it...

"not inc. post" I would assume that means postage, which means you will be buying your remote online, not from a local dealer.

Most of us in this forum are CI's who sell, install, and program remotes everyday.

Since you are looking to order your remote online, I would recomend a Harmony remote for you.

So a remote & RF Receiver for $475?

From an authorized dealer with a warranty and no programming.

MX900 & MRF260 is about $600
MX450 & MRF350 is about $500
MX450 & MRF260 is about $400

Huh?

I've seen even the MX-5000 for approx $700
Surely I can do better than that for $500...

Anyway I'm not even at the stage of talking sales.
Just interested in hearing what ya'll enjoy using
in that 'rough' price bracket & why...

Appreciate your efforts though!

Was hoping to get something as high as the 980 but that may be pushing my luck!

But is everyone URC fan-boys in this forum... ;-)
Or is that all most of you've had exposure to?

Cheers

Yes, that would be asking for alot.

Nope, URC was a stepping stone for most of us, we have moved on to bigger and better things. That being said, there is nothing wrong with URC, and it is the best in it's price point.

Ah yes the primary recommendation in that thread seems to have been the 9200/9300...
There was also some good words for Q50, there was nothing in the way of URC recommendations.

Are you suggesting that all dealers would charge these amts?
What would the 980 & 5000 w/RF2IR blaster come in at?

Everyone seems to be ultra keen on URC....
Do any of my fellow lurkers prefer; Pronto, Nevo or RTI?

I believe AMX or Crestron are more for total systems, not just remotes.
But feel free to disagree!

Thank-you for your time/thoughts.
