Hi

I'm just trying to do some quick research for options that would let me hide my V+ box, DVD player and games equipment, because they're quite unsightly.

I think I've found some advice but the jargon is unpenetrable to a techno-novice like me! You seem like absolute experts and I'm hoping you might be able to offer some assistance!

I was thinking it might be possible to hide the units in a cabinet fronted with special smoked glass that lets the infra-red remote control signal through but it seems this special glass doesn't exist. Am I right? Otherwise I've seen mention of an RF remote. What's an RF remote? Would it let me hide the units in a cupboard but still allow us to switch channels etc? And if it did, does it have to cost £££?

Any advice would be most gratefully recieved.

Thanks in advance,
C

V+ Yes
DVD Yes
Games Equipment Maybe

What do you have? PS3 controller communicates via bluetooth so you will need a special bluetooth to IR adapter. XBOX 360 is IR. Wii cant be controlled by a universal remote.

An RF remote is a universal remote control that communicates with a base station that delivers IR commands to your hidden equipment. RF can work thru cabinets and walls so you can hide your equipment.

You might be able to get away with a tinted glass cabinet. Its not special smoked glass but just normal tinted glass.

Whats your budget? Can you translate it to USD because i suck at math :).

Thank you, this is really very helpful indeed.

I'm sorry its taken me so long to reply.

I have a Wii but it doesn't really matter, it sounds like am RF remote could be a great solution.

I really am most grateful for your help, best wishes for the new year,
