I do over the air, no cable or sat dish and with the new analog to digital converter boxes my recording devices only see one channel and the converter box needs to change to record the correct station.
I have a remoter that come so close but no cigar, a Radio Shack 15-100 which learns great no problem and it even does a timer macro which is what I need, but the operative word is macro not macros, only one is available, if it had more it would be perfect. It doesn't even need to be a remote as such even a box that plugs into the wall as long as it sends the right codes to the converter box at the right times. These things can get pricey, I need something cost effective.
If you have any ideas let me know, Barry

What's your top end for a budget. That would give us a better idea of a specific remote with macros (plural).

How about buying a converter box with a built-in timer? Like the DTVpal or Zinwell 970A. These have multiple timers, and are much more likely to be accurate. $50 or so.

Thanks guys for your replies. Actually I didn't know you could get a Converter with built in timers, that would be great, let me check those out.
The Zinwell 970A doesn't appear to have a composite video output, which is a deal breaker and the DTVpal apparently only does letter box. But your right both have the timers I need and they are in the right price range.
I downloaded the manual for the Zinwell and it indeed does have composite video. The display formats look funky but I think I can take care of that with the controls on my tv. I bid on one on Ebay at $40 plus $10 shipping, which seems fair, but there are other people bidding so we shall see. I guess at this point if it has a down side I will take it, the Digital Stream has what I think is good picture quality, I hope this one is as good. That would give me 3 converter boxes, I only really need two but at this point after months of messing around with reception(which is still horrible) and this issue, I am going to take what I can get. If the sun is shinning, I will get football today, if not I won't, thanks you jerks in Congress.
I got the Z970A for $31 plus shipping, $41 total, this should do the trick, thanks for you help.
thanks, Barry
