Looking for a remote that I can program using a Mac, and which will control the equip stored in a hard wood entertainment center behind closed doors. Done a fair amount of research (leaning towards a Harmony, mostly based on experience of a friend), but am not really sure whether many of the features are things that I never will use. Would like to keep it under $200

Equipment:
Samsung HLS5687w
Directv H20
Xbox 360
Oppo 970h
Onkyo TX-sr674 receiver
Sony (old) CD player

Hmm...normally I'd reccomend URC, but the Mac capability throws away that.

You'll have a tough time finding a Mac programmable remote.

You probably will have to go for something like the Harmony. It has full learning capabilities and is easily programmed online.

To go behind closed doors, you'll need RF.

but am not really sure whether many of the features are things that I never will use.

Not quite sure what you mean. Are you concerned that the remote will not control functions you may or may not use, or do you think the remote is more advanced than what you want?

mostly concerned about spending money for functions that I will not use. I have found the Harmony 890 for less than 3. Are there any other RF remotes for less?

I don't believe that there are any Harmony's with RF besides the 890.

Any good remote will probably have a few features that you don't use. But I can't think of what you probably wouldn't use that is a major feature.

Yes, there are RF remotes for less, such as URC's MX-850 or 800, but you must use a PC to program those. For a Mac, the Harmony might be your best bet.

Then the 890 it is. Thanks for the help.
