Im looking to buy my first universal and am on a small budget. What options should I be researching in the <$100 range? I would like to be able to create macros and consider myself savvy with all things electronic. LCD would be nice but not essential.

Components to Control:
Infocus sp4805
Older generic CRT TV
Generic DVD/VCR Combo
JVC DD Reciever
SA 8300HD

Hmm...macros are possible but not that helpful without discretes.

To get discretes, you would need a PC programmable remote. You'll probably have to pay over $100 for one.

You could check out a cheaper Harmony. The 550 retails for ~$130. That might work. Or URC's MX-series, of which the MX-700 is the cheapest PC programmable at ~$150. Make sure you buy from an authorized dealer.
