I currently have the Universal RF20 and it works more or less fine, except for having to reprogram some functions from time to time.

The problem is that the women in my life are apparently completely incapable of running a remote. I have a Panasonic plasma T.V. an OPPO DVD player, a PS3 used mostly for the Blu Ray and I also have it all patched into a serious "stereo" which unfortunately does not have HDMI capability so I just run HDMI tto the T.V. and have the audio run independenty.

The Harmony remotes have the easiest set-up for the girls, you know the whole "what do you want to do" format but I've used them before and dont really care for them.

Ideas?

What are you looking for in a remote and what is your price range?

Well kinda like my post says something that my wife can understand.

The Harmony for example asks what do you want to do and it is designed to configure everything to do that. For example if my wife wants to watch a movie
with a Harmony she looks for the "watch a movie" button and shes good to go.

Now however I have to explain to her first hit the Main button then look for the piece of equipment you want to control, for example I explain if you press Audio that provides you access to the sound so you can change the surround or adjust other audio settings, when you are done with that press Main again and it takes you back to choose T.V. for example where you can adjust what you want there.

I really dont know exactly how to explain it better I'm dealing with a girl brain and she doesn't get how to use the remote I have. Harmony is a great design for a girl brain but I dont like much about their remotes.

Does this ring a bell with anybody here?

Certainly someone has run into this sort of thing, trying to make their wife happy with a remote she can actually use......right?

Price range, I dunno, I suppose up the $300 or so

Has to be RF though

You can use your existing remote, just make it more girl-friendly. Use better start-up macros that turn on and chenge the equipment that they want to use. There is nothing that a Harmony can't do that you can't do with a URC, except be less reliable.
"You can't fix stupid."
