Hi, I'm looking for a remote to use while repairing electronics at home. Something that can be used with a variety of equipment. I often may not have access to the original remote. Repair service is hard to come by and I'm expanding my skills to help out friends and the small local music scene, making a little cash on the side of my regular job. I'd also like to be able to control my own equipment. I live in a small remote town in Alaska where shipping costs are very prohibitive so most of my gear has come about second hand. My list of equipment includes: Sony TA-E9000ES preamp (no upgraded remote) Adcom GTP-750 preamp (no remote) Adcom GTP-600 preamp (no remote) Pioneer DV45A dvd player Carver HTR875 receiver and a few other random odds and ends that I mess around with. I'm sure I have sufficient computer skills to handle any kind of programming necessary. Prefer no touch screen. Thanks.

URC's MX-700 might suit you fine. It is IR only, but is completely computer programmable (fairly easy to do) and has many codes that come with it. You can download others off this site if it doesn't have them.
It's an LCD screen, but it's NOT a touch screen.
