I am about to get an IOGear ghsw8181 HDMI switcher in the next few days so I'm getting things ready to implement it into my setup.

I found a list of commands for RS232 control of this device in a several year old PDF on IOGear's website. It has commands to select the input and turn power on detection on and off. The remote included with the unit has discrete power on and off buttons and I was wondering if anyone has found the RS232 command equivalent for this?

I will also be contacting IOGear but figured I would cover all of my bases.

I haven't gotten my switch yet but I do have a reply from IOGEAR. According to them, this is the same unit as their parent company Aten's VS0801H switch.

They provided documentation that details quite a bit for RS232 control. It turns out that the discrete power is only to power the output port and not the entire unit which still works perfect for my needs.

The codes are simply "sw on" and "sw off". I am still awaiting the arrival of my unit so I can verify if this works or not. I will provide an update with my findings.
