I have the HR20-100 and the Iogear GUC232A usb to serial adapter.
I plugged the IOGear into the back of my HR20 with the other end attached to the serial port on my laptop.
I have my serial port set at 9600 8 data no parity 1 stop bit no flow control and I am getting nothing.
I have the DirecTV Control v 1.82 which doesn't work as well as a serial port terminal.

Required a null modem adapter. I used a jumper wire to cross #2 and #3 and it started working.
Thanks!
