I have an LG TV with an RS232c 3.5mm mini jack connector. I also have a Global Cache iTach IP2IR. Is there any way to connect a 3.5mm cable between them and output the RS232 command via the IR out of the Global Cache?
I'm just looking for a way to power the display on and off without an IR emitter on the front. HDMI-CEC is not working reliably for this.

No, you would need the iTach IP to RS232 device. However, before you proceed make sure the TV can be powered on via RS232. I read somewhere that the Samsungs cannot (IIRC). I haven't looked on the LGs.

Every Samsung and LG I have ever seen (with serial ports) will power on via RS-232. Sharp, on the other hand, like to make it difficult.
