IIRC Sony never officially released RS232 codes (or pin out for that matter) for the XBR.  I think someone either sniffed out these codes or just tried codes from other models.

Is there a particular reason you aren't using IR?  I imagine whatever codes you have gotten to work are not providing you two way feedback.

I never really understood using RS232 for TVS unless you are simply out of IR ports.

The distinction being the XBR5, (2006 model) had a full db9 port on the back where the new Sony's have a 3.5mm jack.  How many pin is it?  2/3/4?  This isn't documented.

Trying to get the XBR5 codes to work on XBR5 was challenging.  Most of the time, it simply didn't work.  Where I can take 30 seconds and compile an IR code list that is guaranteed to work.

You've been holding out.  That's quite the cache. Two independent RS232 sheets along with an IP primer for Sony TVs.  Amazing!

What else can I find on there?

I have access to the 850b and to an xbr5.  I'm going to test.

That Swedish link at Kavena is dead now :(  Any idea where those docs migrated to?
