Hello, does anyone happen to have documentation on RS-232 commands for the Sony CAV-M1000ES audio switcher?

I got a file from Sony tech support named CAV-AUXControlProtocol_V3.1.xls but using the commands on there, cannot seem to get the RS-232 switching to work.

For example, the XLS file lists the following command to switch Zone 1 to Source 1.

STX 0x93
BC   0x06
PDC 0x55
ID    0x00  (RFID)
CMD 0x55  (CMD_Remote_A)
DATA 0x01 (Main Zone)
DATA 0x01 (Source 1)
DATA 0x0E (Play)
CS     0x40 (Checksum)

I send hex (\x93\x06\x55\x00\x55\x01\x01\x0e\x40) to the CAV-M1000ES via RS-232 but don't see any switching happening.

Has anyone ever used RS-232 commands on a CAV-M1000ES before?

I'd appreciate it if anyone could help me make sense of this.

Thank you!

Jon

I thought that piece had dedicated software to program it over the serial interface.

This is the ~2005 model, yes?

Any reason you aren't using IR?

I would love to have that spreadsheet. I've been 'talking' to Sony and no one seems to know anything about it. Would you be willing to send it to me? If I figure out how to use it, I will let you know how I did it.

Thanks!

Hi,
I actually worked with someone at iRule a few years back to get all the codes made for volumes, mutes, etc. pm me you email address and I would be happy to share. It works perfectly with both Irule and with Simple Controls.

I'm back into looking at this as I have my Alexa controlling this unit now. The one piece I am looking for help on is how to get the sony to report the volume status back to the remote (IE: show the volume level for each zone). Any help would be great.

i recently bought a house with the Sony Cav-M1000ES and CAV-CVS12ES installed. I'm trying to work with what I have. Can't afford to swap these out. Would like to manage the zones with a custom iphone app via Global Cache. Looks like the only why to "talk" to the M1000ES is via an rs232 port. I would appreciate getting all the "codes", esp turning on/off a zone, input selection, volume control. And would love to hear how you interfaced to Alexa.

Thanks,
Bill

I have a cav-1000es that where installing at a studio. I have the ir command from the original control for all the buttons only problem is I don't have a keypad so the control can't send the command, from reading the documentation I see that needs to be installed for it to work. Secondly I would like to set it up through rs232 but there no real clear documentation for it and the software isn't so user friendly, as well i would like to know how u interfaced it with alexa.

The RS232 button on back would i be able to control it on the aux connection

Hi...I have a Brand New CAV-M1000ES (Don't Laugh). Does anyone have the Programming Utility that they can Share with Me?
I took it out of the Box years ago and Lost the Disk. Sony, of course, is of no help at all....Thanks!

Most all info I could find on CAV M1000ES. I put up this link. I'll take it down in one week.
