I have an MRX-1 and an MX-5000. I have been testing to see if I can get back a return from my devices to determine if the power is on or off. I know they send a return because I have seen it in testing outside the URC system. I am not able to get any response back from the device on the MX-5000. I have set the return variable to a know value and that is what is in there after the command executes. Am I missing something or is IP return not supported on the MX-5000 and RS-232 return on the MX-5000 via the MRX-1?

IIRC: The mrx-2 had two way rs232 connectivity and the mrx-1 did not. That (and the mrx-2 is WAY! more stable on the network) was a main change across that product line.

I personally never get two way talk back from an mrx-1 with TC and valid urc two-way drivers.

Thanks for the quick reply. This addresses the issue with RS-232, but what about IP which is direct with the MX-5000 and does not require any other interface product. The doc implies this is possible. It I can't get it to work.

This is not nearly enough information.

What device are you controlling?
How is your mx5000 rf managed? Is it set to rf or network or ir?
How do you know your device accepts two way via ip?
What driver are you using ?

Your mx5000 is not talking directly to your device over ip. If I remember correctly, it is talking through the mrx-1. I don't know if it accepts two way over IP. Again, I've only ever got it to work with urc devices like the dms. I have an mx5000. I'll
Have to take the mrx out of the programming and see if the remote can still talk network to a receiver. I don't think it can.

I am controlling a Yamaha RX-A1030 via IP from an MX-5000. I am positive that the MX-5000 talks directly to the Yamaha because I have been doing it for over a year, and only recently added the MRX-1. In the programming doc for the MRX-1 it states that the IP feedback is "coming soon". Since this was published a few years ago I had hoped that the feature now works.
